About Robert

Robert's family was very musical and as far back as he can remember his parents, relatives and friends gathered around the piano every Friday night for what was known as a "gargle and song", hilarious nights that continued into  the early hours of the morning. Robert Westwood started learning Piano at the age of 12, enduring 3 years of classical teaching followed by 3 years with the Academy of Modern Music in Auckland, New Zealand.

At the age of 16 Robert was playing at these Friday night singalongs enjoying the songs of the day. Such was his love of the Piano he formed his own group playing for local dances and clubs in Auckland.

Upon his marriage to Susan the weekly, evening singalongs [now with immediate family, cousins and friends with children sleeping under the Grand Piano] were faithfully continued until moving to Australia in 1981 and now, with new found friends the evening singalongs continued!! Robert has a passion for the songs of the 30s to the 60s, songs from the past, beautiful melodies and love songs that tell a story.

These are the songs that most people know and songs that never die. On returning to Auckland in March 2010 we had a musical reunion with family and friends gathering around the piano continuing well into the early hours of the morning.

It was here that comments were made, "He should be sharing his love of music and talent with the world." Hence the idea and this website was born.

Robert's latest acquirement is the new Yamaha Digital Portable Grand with an exceptional range of style, song and accompaniments available for all functions.
